Pair your payment terminal with UnyxPOS
Applies to UnyxPOS 0.25.0 with a Linkly Cloud terminal. Guide version 1.0, 14 September 2026.
Before you start
You need three things:
- Your venue's Linkly Cloud username and password. These belong to the account that owns your terminal, and they are not your UnyxPOS login. If you do not have them, ask whoever set your terminal up for Linkly Cloud.
- The payment terminal, powered on, connected, and showing READY.
- UnyxPOS open on your till, signed in as a manager at the venue the terminal belongs to.
About the password. UnyxPOS asks for your Linkly password once, uses it to pair the terminal, and keeps it nowhere. It is not saved, not logged, and nobody at Unyx Labs can read it back. If you ever re-pair the terminal, you will be asked for it again.
Do the steps in order, with the till and the terminal side by side. The pair code the terminal shows expires quickly, and asking the terminal for one takes it out of service until the pairing completes (Step 2 explains).
Step 1 — Set your card payment rail to Linkly
Open Settings → Business & Venue and scroll to Card payment rail.
Choose Linkly. If the section says no terminal is paired to this venue yet, that is expected; it is what you are about to fix.
Leave POS ID, POS name and version and Vendor ID as they are. They identify your UnyxPOS installation to Linkly and are managed for you.

Step 2 — Open the pairing form, then get the code from the terminal
Go to Settings → Devices and choose Add New Device. You will see three tiles:
- Pair with Code — for an UnyxPOS device such as a kiosk or a customer display. Not this one.
- Pair Payment Terminal — this one. It shows your rail underneath: Card payment rail: Linkly.
- Add Manually — for hardware you enter by hand.
If the Pair Payment Terminal tile is greyed out and says Choose a card payment rail first, go back to Step 1.

Choose Pair Payment Terminal. Leave the form open, then turn to the terminal.
On a Linkly VirtualPinpad: press FUNC, then 8880, then OK.
On a physical terminal: follow the pairing steps your bank or Linkly gave you with the terminal.
The terminal asks RESET PAIRING? ENTER / CANCEL.
Press ENTER. The terminal shows a six-digit PAIR-CODE.

The code does not last long. A code left on the screen for about two minutes had expired by the time it was typed in. Type it into UnyxPOS as soon as it appears.
Step 3 — Fill in the four fields
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Station | The counter this terminal serves. If your venue has a default station it is already chosen. |
| Linkly username | Your venue's Linkly Cloud account. |
| Linkly password | The password for that account. Used once to pair; never saved. |
| Pair code | The code on the terminal's screen. |
Choose Pair terminal.
The terminal is named after its station, for example Sales Counter terminal. You can rename it afterwards from its card, like any other device.

Step 4 — Check the terminal appears
The form closes and you are back on Devices. Under the station you chose there is now a card for the terminal showing the type Payment terminal, the badge Paired, the rail it is paired to, and when it was paired.
If the new card shows No pairing details are available for this terminal, refresh the page. It will show Paired.
There is no online/offline light and no battery reading on this card. A payment terminal is not running the UnyxPOS app, so UnyxPOS has nothing honest to report about its connection. The terminal's own screen tells you it is awake.

You can now take card payments on it. Ring a small sale to see the terminal prompt for the card.
If the pairing will not take
UnyxPOS keeps what you typed, so you only fix the one thing that was wrong.
| What you see | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The venue's Linkly account details were not accepted. | The username or password is wrong, or the pair code expired before you submitted. Linkly reports both the same way. | If you are sure of the account details, get a fresh code from the terminal (Step 2) and submit straight away. The station and the code field are kept. |
| That pair code was not accepted. | The code was mistyped. | Check it against the terminal's screen. |
| The card payment rail could not be reached. | Linkly is not answering. Nothing is wrong with what you entered. | Wait a moment and try again. |
| The terminal paired with the rail but was not recorded here. | This one is ours, not yours. | Try again; re-pairing is safe. If it keeps happening, contact support. |

Taking a terminal out of service
Open the terminal's card on Devices and choose Unpair.
Unpairing revokes the terminal's credential, so no sale can be sent to it again, and marks the card Unpaired while keeping the record.Use Unpair rather than Delete: the record is what your payment history refers back to.
UnyxPOS warns you that card payments for this venue stop until a terminal is paired again. That is true. The next card sale will refuse with No terminal is paired to this venue. Pair a terminal in Settings > Devices to take card payments. rather than sending the card anywhere else.

Putting it back into service
Choose Re-pair on the same card. UnyxPOS asks for your Linkly username, password and a fresh pair code; the station stays as it was. The terminal gets a new credential and the old one stops working.
